Marvin A. Southcott

Writings

Marvin Southcott walks through life with all five senses engaged, recording each experience in both his paintings and his fiction writings. Don’t let the realism of his paintings mislead you, however. Southcott’s fiction will lead right out of this world and into places that live only in his imagination. Follow those adventures in his two new books, “Persistence and Doubt” and “Light In The Dark”.

Persistence and Doubt: An After Atlantis Adventure
By Marvin A. Southcott
Description:  Davob is an innovative second-generation survivor of the inundated city and island of Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean. First Landed and Settlebo, two communities of survivors, are formed on the east coast of the North American continent in the now-vicinity of Maryland. A log canoe designer, Davob dreams of fabricating the first one-man-carry birch bark canoe. Davob travels from Settlebo to First Landed and meets his dream girl, Ceresis, a trainee of Meena's shamanism. Ceresis and Davob fall in love as they learn healing, meditation, and telepathy techniques. In Settlebo, Omama from the mid-Pacific island of Mu visits Davob. Kado is Davob's primary doubter and disrupter. Kado plans attacks on Davob's projects repeatedly and suffers injury to himself in the process. Kado's group of doubters is swept over a cliff edge by coordinated levitation techniques guided by Omama. All the disrupters appear to be killed. Is Davob finally free of Kado's attacks?

Light in the Dark: A Medival Adventure
By Marvin A. Southcott
Description:  Adon said, "When you apply love with conditions, the energy grows weak and dissipates. It begins to fade. Imposed conditions make the love hard to focus." Alone, in the darkness of the castle hallway, Beth had to think about that. Adon floated, only partly there, she could see that. He made sense and he made no sense.
Most of all, Beth desires independence. Before leaving Black Butte Castle, she experiences strange tastes from translucent quartz cups, a tower top, then a strange fog, a special library of books, and a dark under-the-castle waterway to freedom. Poachers accost her in the forest. She is invited to a village home and meets Chad. She and Chad learn to use telepathy. She studies magic with her magic-possessed mother, helps save the lives of her father-the king-and her little brother from the hands of a kidnapper. Light in the Dark is an adventure.
